IMPORTANT : Keep up to date
As we all know, our entire country is dealing with the world
wide Coronavirus Pandemic {COVID-19}.
Our own community of Ottawa is attempting to address this with
care and compassion.
Our Council would also like to do our part in the safe keeping
of our community. In addition to observing the protocols of
our various Ministers of Health and Chief Medical Officers,
(example: “social distancing”, frequent hand washing and 'self
isolation' etc) we want to help one another.
In particular, we want to reach out to any knights and their
families who need assistance. In saying this I am really
encouraged to see one of our newest Knights, Br Sean Curran,
has kindly offered to deliver groceries, pharmacy supplies etc
to those who require such help. Inspired by Br Sean's example,
we urge any other Knights or family members with urgent needs
to contact Br Sean at 613 255-2942.
You may get in touch with any of the following:
Brother Paul Bourke at 343 550-1740 or email
paul.bourke@sympatico.ca
Br Terry O'Donnell at 613 424-1880
Br Guy Savard at 613 824-9715
Br Paul Boutette at 613 837-9258
So ... if you need immediate help, or simply want the support
of brother Knights (even though we cannot unfortunately engage
in social visits to your homes due to Covid -19 restrictions),
please contact me or my brother Knights listed above!
Finally: If you or if you know of a brother Knight who
is able to give some time to assist with phoning brother
Knights or making deliveries, please let me know.
During these very difficult times we wish you all good health
and many blessings. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and
with your love ones.
Fraternally
Paul Bourke

REMINDER let's make meetings more enjoyable!
In order to make the job of the Recorder and the Grand Knight easier and to save everyone's time, if you are thinking of making a motion at a business meeting, please write out the motion in advance. (keep it short and to the point) Please submit it to the Trustees prior to the meeting so they may confirm that funds are available. It would also be nice to have a plan to raise the money required.
Please also make sure you have a seconder for your
motion and be prepared to support the reason for said motion by
being the first speaker after the motion is seconded.
Remember that there is a time limit for discussion on any motion.
.
No one can speak for more than ten minutes at a time,
Members may not address the motion again until all others have had
an opportunity to speak on the motion
Members will rise to speak on the motion, only upon being
recognized by the chairman .,
Member, announcing his name, will say if he is in support of
or against the motion then and give his opinion.
If you speak for the second time on the same motion, the same time
restriction applies to all members..
A person may NOT address the floor on the same subject for a third
time.
When speaking you must address all remarks to the
chairman not to any other brother.
The chairman when addressing the motion after debate, shall read aloud the motion to be voted upon, and then ask for the vole to be taken.
Only the chairman has the right to call for the
vote.
A simple majority will carry most motions. NB: in certain
cases a two thirds majority is required
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
Meaning of "Notice of Motion".
As it implies: it is simply a
statement made by a member at the current business meeting, that
he proposes to bring up as a motion at a subsequent business
meeting. As such there is no seconder required and there is
also no discussion on the subject of the motion presented
until at the next business meeting where this motion will be the
first on the table for new business..
Be aware that to pass such motion at the subsequent meeting will
require a seconder, a discussion that follows and always
requires a two thirds majority
to be accepted.

"Leadership"
Understand that true leaders believe that they are not as important
as those whom they serve; it's not about putting yourself above others,
but rather raising others up to their full potential.".

GROCERY GIFT CERTIFICATES
We want to thank the people who have participated in helping us reach our objective of providing ongoing funding for the upkeep of our Parish and support of several other charitable causes. Every year we start afresh under new contracts with the suppliers. This means we only earn minimal return until our current year purchases reach a substantial level. We ask you to be diligent in purchasing as many certificates as early in the year as possible so that we can earn maximum benefits for the Parish all year long. Please continue to participate. After all, the need to eat doesn't go away just because you went shopping last week. Remember the tickets are redeemable at all times for the full-face value you paid for them, so you are never at risk.
The key to our success is for you to continue to use these services regularly, so we can continue to contribute to the support of your Parish.
God bless you and thank you for your support!

failing, but in rising up every time we fail.”
